Cultural Affirmation

Cultural Affirmation is the working vehicle for Te Maru o Ruahine Trust that provides projects/services/communications and any other means that assist Ngāti Hauiti to maintain and grow the following Ngāti Hauiti vision :

“Te Whakapikitanga me te whakapupuritanga o tō tātou Hauititanga”

 (“The enhancement and preservation of Hauititanga”.)

Te Maru o Ruahine Trust has been working strategically to build strong communications with Ngāti Hauiti whānau whānui. We believe it is one of the most important strategies to keep our people updated with Ngāti Hauiti business, events and information.  

It was identified that Ngāti Hauiti needed to move with modern times of communications using whatever medium to communicate with our people via website, Facebook, Instagram, twitter and any other means that is appropriate to provide Ngāti Hauiti people with correct information.

• COMMUNICATIONS:  Ngāti Hauiti Whānau Facebook, Website, Te Karere (Biennial pānui), twitter, up dated database of Ngāti Hauiti people. Registrations.

• HAUITI DINNERS: We hold four Ngāti Hauiti Dinners per year

• HE WHETU ARATAKI (YOUTH LEADERSHIP): New intake and supporting previous Rangatahi

• TE REO: Neville Lomax and Rātā Cornell facilitate monthly reo classes

• RARANGA: Rātā Cornell facilitates raranga classes that coincide with te reo classes

• WĀNANGA/ NOHO MARAE: In planning phase

• WHAKAPAPA/WAIATA/HAKA: In planning phase

• HAUITITANGA: Continues consistently with everything we do as Ngāti Hauiti.

• EVENTS CALENDAR: All Ngāti Hauiti events

All these things are important to the vision of Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Hauiti so they can support all Ngāti Hauiti people,  to know who they are and where they come from as Ngāti Hauiti.
